HAGAR/ROTH Line Up Initial Tour Dates
April 17, 2002Former VAN HALEN singers Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth held a press conference at the Mondrian Hotel — Sky Bar in Los Angeles yesterday morning announcing the details of their forthcoming joint co-headlining tour, which is scheduled to kick off on May 29th in Cleveland.
Here are various “highlights” from the press conference (all, predictably enough, by Roth),as reported by MTV:
David Lee Roth: "Sammy and I are like fraternity brothers that have been through the same sh.tty hazing. I think this tour is going to last a lot longer than Marilyn Manson and Courtney Love.
"What we are about is a spirit, an attitude. It goes beyond the last band we were in. It's a state of mind and a point of view that VAN HALEN has misplaced — twice.
"I'm going to do almost exclusively the VAN HALEN catalog. It's about time that we show up and not just do renditions. I have a hot band that will serve it large.
"What you have is quintessential Americana, and you couldn't pick a more appropriate time for that. Between the two of us there is probably something between 80 to 100 million albums sold. And whether you've owned it or not, you've heard Sammy or my voice blaring out of a pickup truck in front of you at the drive-thru at the local Burger King for how many summers?"
